Mariana Flores Melo: Women Power

We used to see men taking control of difficult situations and trying to put everything in its place. Apparently, having control of every situation is something that men normally do because they have the strength, they are more in control of their feelings, and they could be dominant with the rest. However, nowadays, we know that women like to have control and they aren’t afraid of showing their power.

Children are taught to act in a certain way: boys have to play with cars and have to know how to be leaders and girls should know how to be submissive. Although, the personality of each of us is different, there is a certain kind of rule that establishes that men should be in charge.

Important jobs for women

In this sense, we have seen that women have had to fight for an important place in history; they have learned that they are important and they are capable of being in charge. They have worked as CEO of companies, principals in schools, lawyers, politicians and, of course, Presidents of a country.

Being president of an entire country is certainly really important. In Latin America, we had for example Dilma Rousseff that was President of Brazil until this year or Michelle Bachelet in Chile or Cristina Fernandez in Argentina. All of them have been a role model for all women all over the world and now we had the opportunity of having Hillary Clinton as a candidate for the US presidency.

As we have said, nowadays, it isn’t a secret that women can be in charge of many things and have important jobs. For that reason, the world should celebrate.
